The Auxiliary of
St. Mary's Hospital Montreal
The St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary has played an integral role at St. Mary's Hospital Centre ever since our doors opened in 1924. With funds raised through operating the Gift Shop, the Book Corner, and the Coffee Shop, the Auxiliary has purchased equipment, funded research, refurbished departments and enhanced patient care. Over the years, St. Mary's Auxiliary has raised millions of dollars and volunteered thousands of hours to ensure that everyone who comes through our doors feels welcome.
The Gift Shop
The Gift Shop started as a shop on wheels by the Auxiliary but soon found a home in the hospital main lobby. Overseen by our manager, Mayra Orozco, and staffed by volunteers, the gift shop is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4 pm. For sale:

Book Corner
The Auxiliary’s Book Corner, founded in 1984 by Lil Parsons, is located in the main lobby of the hospital. All books, an estimated 3,000 of them (!), are donated. Board member and Book Corner co-chair Connie Rose (second from right) devotes many hours, along with her team of volunteers, to sorting pricing, shelving, and selling the books.
Should you have books in good condition to donate, they can be dropped in the bin outside the Book Corner at any time. Book Corner hours are Monday to Friday from 10 am to 4 pm, and occasionally on weekends if volunteers are available.
Coffee Shop
The Coffee Shop began as a lunch counter in 1952 by Auxiliary president, Kay Staines. It remains an Auxiliary enterprise, now operated by Sodexo Quebec Inc., whose management and staff ensure that quality food and service is delivered to customers every day of the week. Overseen by manager Caroline Michel (center), the Coffee Shop now also caters in-hospital receptions offering coffee and pastries, or lunches with canapés, sandwiches, salads and desserts. The Coffee Shop is open Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 7 pm and on weekends, 9 am-4 pm.
